This is the final card in the suit of Pentacles. King of Pentacles represents the patriarch, the head of the house, the foundation of a company/family, and someone who has the capacity to be both a strict and a kind ruler. This card stands for power, integrity, wealth, honesty, loyalty, responsibility and success.
In this final, royal card we see a lot of bright yellows, but also a stark contrast in the form of black and grey. Unlike the Queen’s throne which is made of grey stone, King’s is made of black stone with grey and golden elements – representing responsibility, duty and unchanging integrity.
In the background, there’s a castle and green, fresh blossoms representing abundance and royalty. He is garbed in a predominantly black robe with light green and red details representing wealth and earthly pleasures.
He has a big crown, representing his status, and in his left hand, he is holding a pentacle, while there’s a golden scepter in his right. There are a lot of bright green details in this card, that represent freshness of ideas that King of Pentacles is known for when it comes to gardening and managing a farm, as well as keeping his business fresh and booming for many long years.
King of Pentacles is considered one of the most benign cards in the Pentacle suit. Even reversed he is said not to have perilous properties. In his upright state, the King of Pentacles represents a kind, generous man who is at the head of a company and/or a family.
He is the “father” whom all love and don’t find it difficult to listen to. He gives great advice and his mannerisms are calm and collected at all times. He gives sound and reasonable instructions and is able to make the whole mechanism and machinery work with his “magic touch”.
This is the card of royal and loyal power, integrity, wealth, success and abundance. King of Pentacles is a good omen in every reading and it signifies someone you can count on in your hour of need even without having to ask for help. But do ask, it’s always good to ask.
King of Pentacles reversed doesn’t have as dire implications as some other cards, but he can be an omen of dishonesty, abuse of power, conservative and radical views as well as laziness, gambling and wasting away other people’s money (ex: messing with the pension fund…)
This is a stubborn patriarchal person who is stuck in the old and outdated ways, and through them defends their shortcomings and weaknesses. No one is more inclined to use zealot philosophies to cover for their sore spots than the King of Pentacles reversed.
This can also be an indication of stinginess and harsh discipline – being stern towards your kids without a sound and a good reason, just because you think it should be that way. Being a wrong and corrupted role model.
