4 of Pentacles is the 4th card in the suit of Pentacles and it represents tangible material results and reasonable financial gain. This is the card of stable health, money, job and status, but it can also indicate fear of losing all that stability.
In this card, we see a predominantly grey background that represents stability, or the lack of change. In the middle we have a crowned figure clasping 4 pentacles, one is on his head (above the crown), one is in his hands, in the middle of his chest, and the remaining two are beneath each foot of his.
His garbs are black and red with a string of light- blue representing a (self)made man who has it all – health, status, money and love. In the background, we see a city, presumably his kingdom since the figure wears a golden crown.
This is the card of Earthly Powers and stability, but in stability also lies laziness, possessiveness, greed and lack of movement. So the 4 of Pentacles is predominantly a good card, but it can also be a double-edged sword in its “goodness”.
When the 4 of Pentacles makes an appearance in a reading it’s a good omen that all is well and that the reader/asker shouldn’t fear anything. It’s a card of stability and achieved success.
Since the 4 of Pentacles follows after 3 of Pentacles, this means that the foundations set at the time of the 3 of Pentacles were good, and the teamwork was successful, so now the time has come to enjoy the fruits of your labor and to celebrate.
When the 4 of Pentacles comes up in a reading, you should also heed its underlying warning – without challenges, there’s no progress, without progress there’s no life, only death. So contemplate and be satisfied only for so long, before it turns into fear and possessives of losing what you’ve gained.
When the 4 of Pentacles pops up reversed, you should be wary of stinginess, avarice, jealousy and coveting. Although you have things to lose, it’s not a written rule that you will lose them, don’t let the imaginary fear and worries poison your mind and heart against others for no good reason.
4 of Pentacles reversed can also indicate that the fruits of your labor and your hard-earned prize are being stolen by someone else. You did all the hard work, but someone else is now reaping the rewards.
The 4 of Pentacles is an omen of jealousy and wrongful deeds that are happening behind your back, stay vigilant and clear-headed, and try to investigate and find out the truth without stirring the water too much.
